Circle Internet Group, Inc. has announced a strategic collaboration with Sasai Fintech, a business of Cassava Technologies, to accelerate the integration of USDC and internet-native financial infrastructure across the African continent. The partnership aims to leverage Circle’s onchain infrastructure to provide Sasai’s enterprise and consumer base with a more seamless connection to the global financial system. Issued by Circle’s regulated affiliates, USDC is a fully-reserved digital stablecoin redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars.Stablecoin usage in Africa is currently seeing a period of rapid growth. This trend is largely driven by a mobile-first population, an expanding digital economy, and the increasing necessity for efficient cross-border commerce."Africa’s digital economy is entering a new era, propelled by entrepreneurship and the acceleration of intra-regional trade," said Strive Masiyiwa, Founder and Executive Chairman of Cassava Technologies. "By integrating with the trusted USDC network, we can drive financial inclusion and open transformative opportunities for businesses and consumers alike."Sasai Fintech, which operates across several key payment corridors, offers a suite of services ranging from business payments to remittance solutions. Through this collaboration, the two companies will explore practical applications for USDC to reduce the costs and settlement times often associated with traditional regional transfers.Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Circle, noted that emerging markets remain at the forefront of stablecoin innovation."Africa represents a significant opportunity for internet-native innovation," Allaire said. "Working with Cassava, we can extend the benefits of USDC and onchain infrastructure into high-growth payment corridors to deliver always-on global connectivity."The integration is expected to focus on Sasai’s mobile wallet solutions, facilitating more efficient cross-border transfers for both individuals and remittance operators.
