Comba Telecom Limited and SICOTEL Communications (SCOMM) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at accelerating Morocco’s 5G deployment and strengthening indoor connectivity infrastructure.
The agreement was announced during GITEX Africa 2026, marking a significant step in supporting the country’s Digital Morocco Plan 2030.
Supporting Morocco’s 5G Expansion
The partnership comes at a critical time as Morocco advances its digital transformation strategy, with a strong focus on nationwide 5G rollout. The government aims to achieve over 25% 5G coverage by the end of 2026, creating growing demand for reliable indoor wireless connectivity.
Through this collaboration, both companies will focus on deploying advanced In-Building Solutions (IBS) to improve network performance in high-traffic environments such as:
- Shopping malls
- Office buildings
- Hotels
- Airports
- Stadiums
Combining Global Technology and Local Expertise
Comba Telecom will contribute its industry-leading wireless technologies, including the ComFlex MAX platform and its expertise in Passive and Active Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). Meanwhile, SCOMM brings over two decades of experience in Morocco’s telecom sector, along with strong relationships with local operators and enterprises.
Rayan Hamze, General Manager of Comba MEA, emphasized the importance of the partnership:
“This collaboration strengthens our commitment to Africa’s digital infrastructure. By combining global innovation with local expertise, we aim to deliver energy-efficient, future-ready wireless solutions that meet the needs of Morocco’s growing digital economy.”
Expanding Connectivity and Digital Infrastructure
Under the MoU, both companies will jointly:
- Identify and develop new IBS project opportunities across Morocco
- Deploy advanced DAS solutions, including Comba’s ComFlex MAX
- Launch joint marketing initiatives targeting telecom operators and enterprises
Akram Fathi, General Manager of SCOMM, highlighted the local impact:
“As Morocco accelerates 5G deployment and prepares for major international events, this partnership enables us to deliver seamless indoor connectivity and support the country’s broader digital transformation goals.”
Enabling High-Density and Sustainable Networks
Comba’s ComFlex MAX solution—already deployed in over 80 countries—features a highly integrated, energy-efficient architecture designed to enhance performance while reducing power consumption. This aligns with Morocco’s push toward sustainable and green infrastructure.
With Morocco’s telecom market projected to reach $4.59 billion by 2030, the partnership is expected to play a key role in meeting the increasing demand for high-speed, reliable connectivity.
GITEX Africa 2026: A Platform for Innovation
The agreement was formalized at GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech, one of the continent’s largest tech and startup events, held under the theme “Accelerating Africa’s Future: AI for Inclusive Transformation.”
