Hustle Academy Gets AI-Focused Overhaul by Google and UpSkill Universe

Google and UpSkill Universe have unveiled a major redesign of the Hustle Academy program, broadening access to AI and digital skills training across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Originally launched in 2022 as a bootcamp-style initiative for small business owners, Hustle Academy has already trained more than 18,000 SMEs, helping many increase revenue and create jobs. Now, the program is evolving to meet the demands of a rapidly changing, AI-driven economy.

Open to Everyone for the First Time

In its 2026 edition, the free training program is no longer limited to entrepreneurs. It is now open to students, employees, and job seekers, making AI education more inclusive across the region.

This shift reflects the growing importance of AI skills not just for businesses, but for individuals navigating the modern job market.

Focus on Practical AI Skills

The redesigned curriculum emphasizes hands-on AI application, moving beyond basic awareness to real-world implementation. Participants will learn how to apply AI in key areas such as:

The program introduces a flexible learning format, combining short 60-minute webinars with more intensive, high-impact bootcamps designed for immediate application.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for over 80% of jobs in Africa, making them a critical driver of economic growth. Hustle Academy aims to strengthen this sector by equipping participants with practical tools to stay competitive in an AI-powered landscape.
